Contrary to what some people think, it does not "clearly" state anything about homosexuality in the Bible, that's just YOUR church's interpretation of their favorite MIS-translation of the original ancient Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek texts, which contain words and concepts that even experienced Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek scholars can't always agree on how to translate accurately.
Basically, narrowminded straight people make up their minds that homosexuality is "icky" , wrong" and "weird", and THEN go looking in the Bible for quotes that they can take out of context to justify their prejudice. And then they use all of that to justify denying GLBT people equal CIVIL rights.
EDIT: Those who claim its wrong because "if everyone was gay the human race would die out in 100 years" are just not thinking. Its idiotic to believe that everyone on the planet would magically "turn gay" or stop having heterosexual sex if same-sex marriage were legalized in one U.S state or even across the United States, so what is the point of this argument? There aren't any more gay and bisexual people now than there ever were, its just that GLBT people are more free to come out and be open about who they really are, instead of staying closeted and pretending to be straight. And with 6 billion-plus people on the planet, I SERIOUSLY doubt that the human species is in any danger of extinction, even if every gay and lesbian person on the planet were to come out. There would still be several billion heterosexuals to breed the next generations.
EDIT #2 -- and those who claim homosexuality is "against nature" need to do some reading on biology. Homosexual or bisexual behavior has been observed and reported by biologists in hundreds of animal and bird species around the globe, so clearly it IS "natural".
EDIT #3 -- Those who claim that same-sex marriage is wrong because "marriage is only between a man and a woman" are conveniently forgetting that up until 1967, marriage between people of different races was also considered "wrong" by many people. We don't define marriage that way anymore, thanks to the Supreme Court decision, "Loving vs Virginia", in which marriage was defined as a "fundamental human right".
Used to be that when a woman married, she gave up all legal rights to whatever property she owned or income she earned to her husband. Even her own children didn't belong to her, they belonged to their father. We don't define marriage that way anymore either.
Marriage for love is a relatively recent innovation; for most of human history, only the poorest of the poor could afford to marry for love since they had no property to pass on to their children anyway. For most people, marriage was strictly a business arrangement based on establishing family connections and advantageous property arrangements and love had nothing to do with it. For the most part, we don't define marriage that way anymore either.
I could go on with these examples. My point is that far from being an institution of eternal values that never change -- marriage has ALWAYS been changing and evolving over the years, and anybody who thinks differently needs to go read up on their history.
all the stuff i can think about is arguable, like they get HIV and ADIS but straight people started it; religiously they are not god-lly but i'm not christian and non-christian people gets married too so...
whatever, gay guys are fun, if i'm a guy i would total be gay~ (duh..~)
If the only qualification that we have for marriage is that its okay because people feel like doing it, then what would stop polygamy from eventually being legal? Nothing.
You also have to remember that if gay marriage is ruled a constitutional right, then any minister who refuses to perform a marriage ceremony is violating a "constitutional right" and they can get in serious legal trouble.
If the government doesn't have any business telling people who can't get married, then what business does the government have telling a minister who he can't refuse to marry?
Love, as is stated by many, many psychologists(too tired to find any specific examples) is deeply rooted to sex, specificalyl pro-creation. Love, without the natural ability to produce children through the classic penis-in-the-vag way, is not natural, so people are often naturally repulsed
but im athiest so i dont give a damn
I think it's funny there's a person singlehandingly downvoting everybody! Come on, give us YOUR opinion! :;
